Standing on this hill I had that feeling of eureka, or more like, duh--Portland is Portland because it's got a port. But, if surroundings give a name, it could, just as easily be called Communityland.
Here's a chalkboard in the town square announcing, among other things, an art walk and the farmers market. It was a sunny day and it seemed like the whole town was gathered together, buying produce, sitting in the sun, talking with their neighbors. As in Portsmouth, buy local stickers were rampant.
